"Glasgow's DANCER return with their second full-length album, More or Less, set for release on September 12, 2025 via Meritorio Records.
'More or Less' started off as just 'More' but a certain prestige act returned with an album bearing this exact moniker, beating the band to the name only just. The adjusted title summarizes the new record and it's creation story quite neatly though - Everything's the same but everything is different - More or Less. 12 fresh tracks written with new drummer Luke Moran (Buffet Lunch), a bolder brighter sound pushes Dancer into more sophisticated realms and yet they have never been scuzzier or more party-ready than at times on this selection.
A deluge of rip-roaring compositions rarely let up for air, intermingled with more contemplative behaviours on the bookended first and last tracks 'Legend' and 'Calm Down'. Elsewhere 'Getting It Wrong Every Time' proves to be maybe the most epic Dancer track yet, a towering centre piece that ebbs and flows gracefully.
Once again Gemma Fleet 's powerful vocal is charged with wit and a palpable character throughout. Her considered narratives weaving through the restless and colourful instrumentals.
Chris Taylors explorative guitar work reaches truly imaginative peaks across the board. The bouncing, rejuvenated rhythm section provided by bass player Andrew Doig alongside Moran, serving to contain these electrified elements.
Lead tracks such as 'Happy Halloween' and 'Just Say Yes' see this dynamic thrive with a raw and catchy buoyancy - making for some of the band's most engaging singles yet.
Recorded at Chime Studios in Glasgow with engineer Ross McGowan over a winter riddled with bereavement, illness, political upheaval and the grueling local weather - this new album pushes against those realities - choosing to daydream and fantasize freely.
FFO - Elastica, Life Without Buildings, Pylon, Owls, Altered States, Sonic Youth
